The Learning Space is an innovative, flexible centre with 3 creative, open spaces. At the Learning Space, we aim to stay at the leading edge of learning. Learning is something that everyone does lifelong & life wide - at home, work, school, in our leisure time & even when we sleep. We are all learners & we learn best by seeing, talking & doing (with our picture, word and body memory) preferably all at once.

Our Centre allows us to create the impression of being in a different place (for example a rainforest or a forensic lab) by showing images on our plasma screens, by playing sounds through our PA & by encouraging learners to lead their way through a range of hands-on team activities & challenges. How we learn is changing fast & what we learn is changing too. Learners develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes – all are equally important and transferrable to the real world!

Learner and learning-centred approaches are at the heart of the Government’s personalised learning agenda. We have been working this way

since we opened and can show we are already meeting the Government’s vision of learning for 2020, today! People of all ages leave our Centre having had fun, despite having worked hard and learnt a lot!
